New Look at Disneyland Paris ‘The Lion King’ Land Character Models

Disneyland Paris shared another look at their upcoming The Lion King land in a video about Disney Adventure World.

The Lion King Land

The video highlighted models of the land and attraction, which we’ve seen before. The Splash Mountain-like flume ride will take guests through Simba’s story.

A tiny model of Simba is on Pride Rock at the top of the ride.

As Imagineers explained in the video, the land sets out to replicate the African savanna by using local trees that will grow in Paris. The trees will be trained and trimmed over years so that they look more like African plants.

The video offered an up-close look at models for young Simba, Pumbaa, and Timon Audio-Animatronics. We got a slight look at these models in the Making of Disney Adventure World book. They seem to be from the same scene or a similar scene as this concept art:

In a vibrant jungle setting reminiscent of The Lion King attraction, a lion cub, meerkat, and warthog perch playfully on a fallen log amidst fluttering butterflies. Two onlookers admire the scene from the dense foliage's edge—an enchanting glimpse into Disneyland Paris's concept art.

The ride will combine the latest in technology, projection effects, and state-of-the-art animatronics. One Imagineer said, “I promise you that when you go on this ride, there will be things that you will look at and say, ‘Wow, how did they do that?'”

Disney Adventure World is the renamed Walt Disney Studios Park, which recently opened World of Frozen. The Lion King land will sit alongside the Frozen land along the new lake.
