UPDATE: Disney confirmed the Grand Floridian gingerbread house will not return this year and there will be miniature gingerbread displays instead.
Resort hotel gingerbread displays are mysteriously absent from Walt Disney World’s 2026 holiday announcements.
Disney Resort Gingerbread Displays

Every year, select Walt Disney World resorts display special gingerbread creations. All Disney had to say in their Disney Parks Blog post about the 2026 holiday season was, “For guests staying at the resorts or for those with valid dining reservations, the Disney Resorts Collection offers a wide array of bright and merry holiday decor.”
The only gingerbread display mentioned by Disney in their holiday announcements is the gingerbread Spaceship Earth at EPCOT.
Last year, there was no gingerbread house at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort due to the lobby remodel. But guests could still enjoy the annual gingerbread carousel at Disney’s Beach Club Resort, gingerbread Cinderella Castle “Dream Lights” at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, the BoardWalk Inn gingerbread house, new and returning gingerbread animals at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, and a small chocolate cabin at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge.
The lack of announcement may have something to do with non-resort guests no longer being allowed to board resort buses and watercraft at Disney Springs, which will become permanent this July 4th weekend. Guests will need to prove they have one of the following to board a resort bus or boat:
- An active Walt Disney World resort hotel reservation
- A confirmed dining reservation at a Disney resort hotel
- A confirmed resort recreation activity booking (such as a boat cruise)
This means guests won’t be able to easily take buses to and from resorts just to see gingerbread displays.
Hopefully, the gingerbread displays will still return.
