Steakhouse 71 has some new updates to its breakfast menu, including seasonal Key Lime Pie pancakes and a breakfast burger. Plus, the steak and eggs entrée now has a New York Strip cut, which is a nice upgrade.
Steakhouse 71 Breakfast Review
Key Lime Pie Pancakes – $15
Seasonally inspired Pancakes with choice of Bacon, Pork Sausage, or Turkey Sausage

If you like Key Lime Pie, you’ll love these pancakes. The pancakes aren’t flavored; they’re basic buttermilk pancakes with topping. All of the restaurant’s seasonal pancakes are served this way, with the exception of the sweet potato pancakes. Spring’s seasonal pancake flavor was Lemon Blueberry, and the blueberries weren’t even in the pancakes like you would think. It was blueberry compote and lemon curd.
The drizzle on these pancakes is basically a Key Lime Pie filling, so you know exactly what that tastes like. Graham cracker crumbs, a lime wedge, and whipped cream top it off. These pancakes taste just like Key Lime Pie.

Breakfast Burger – $23
Bacon, American Cheese, Aioli, Avocado, Egg, Crispy Hash Brown served with Fresh Fruit

This burger is an almost-perfect example of what a breakfast burger should be. It consists of two smashed patties topped with cheese, bacon, avocado, and an egg your way (the default is over-medium), over two thick hash browns on an onion bun. Though they call it pork belly on the menu, it’s just typical breakfast bacon (which it technically is).
Our biggest complaint with the burger is that it was a bit dry. Because they are pressed patties, they’re essentially well-done and you don’t really have an option to have them prepared any other way. The avocado, cheese, and egg mitigate the lack of moisture of the patties. You could also add ketchup or another condiment as well.
We would prefer this burger be a single thick patty cooked medium.

The other interesting choice is to put the hash brown patties under the burger. While we enjoyed the flavor, this resulted in a bit of a mess when trying to pick it up to eat it. Maybe it’s a mistake to try to eat a breakfast burger without using a knife and fork, but we digress.
Overall, we recommend the breakfast burger as a great option and a welcomed expansion of the menu options. We’d definitely get this again, though it’s a tough choice between these three excellent breakfast options.

As a note, scrambled eggs can be substituted in place of other eggs for those that prefer them. Guests can also request to have the eggs placed on the side instead of the burger, as pictured above.
Steak and Eggs – $27
Two Eggs Any Style and Breakfast Potatoes with Béarnaise Sauce

There has always been a steak and eggs entrée for breakfast, but it was a much smaller steak. Now, it is the same 10 oz. steak that also appears on the dinner menu at a price point of $38.
It’s also worth mentioning that the strip steak has also been recently added to the lunch menu as a $34 Steak Frites entrée.

The steak was well prepared and nicely seasoned. Often, steak and eggs entrees don’t have a very flavorful or well seasoned steak, but this one checked both boxes. The Béarnaise is very good but almost unnecessary with how well flavored the steak is. Overall, it’s an excellent choice and an amazing value at $27.
