In an exclusive at Fortune, it was revealed that Universal has now surpassed Disney in making the most expensive movie of all time.

Financial statements acquired by Fortune reveal that Universal Pictures’ Jurassic World: Dominion has toppled The Force Awakens out of its spot as the most expensive film of all time. These reports indicate that Dominion (2022) cost $658.8 million to make, while Force Awakens (2015) was $638.9 million.
According to the outlet, some of the added cost of Dominion came from the safety protocols around the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as delays that moved the film’s premiere by over a year to June 2022.
