Walt Disney World water parks operate seasonally, and the resort has just announced the upcoming seasonal closure for Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon.
Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Seasonal Closure

Typhoon Lagoon water park will close for the season on September 9, 2026, according to a notice on the resort website. There is no reopening date listed as of yet. Last year, Disney’s Blizzard Beach closed on September 8 for the season while Typhoon Lagoon remained open.
Both water parks are open again for the season this year as of May 12, 2026. The water parks are operating at the same time during Cool Kids’ Summer, which runs through September 8. These dates are also when hotel guests can take advantage of a free water park visit on the date of their check-in.

The notice reads: “Starting September 9, 2026, Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon water park will temporarily close. During this time, we encourage Guests to enjoy Disney’s Blizzard Beach water park.”
These seasonal closures allow the water parks to get refurbished and maintained during the slower season.
