WESH 2 sent a helicopter over Walt Disney World, giving us an updated aerial look at construction projects, most notably Tropical Americas in Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

Tropical Americas Construction

The biggest change since our last aerial update with photos by bioreconstruct is the addition of roof beams to the land’s carousel. We saw these beams from the ground but their spacing and placement is more obvious from the sky. They were installed every few feet around the steel circular frame, slanted upwards and connecting at a smaller steel circle in the center.

Scaffolding sticks up out of that smaller circle. Concept art for the carousel indicates there will be another layer to the roof.

The structure of beams to the left is expected to be the carousel’s queue. The overhang on the right may be the carousel’s entrance and exit.

There’s also a change at Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures. The former DinoLand U.S.A. gift shop is being repurposed for Tropical Americas. In recent weeks, crews have removed the roofing on the right that had “Souvenirs” in giant lettering. Compare to our photo from July 16 below.
