Part of Sunset Boulevard’s richly detailed streetscape is looking a little plain as one of its many storefronts has emptied its prominent display cases.

Reel Vogue Display Cases Sit Empty

Reel Vogue forms part of the elaborate Art Deco facade of Beverly Sunset Boutique at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The storefront resembles a glamorous cinema from Hollywood’s golden age, complete with a stylized marquee, sweeping architectural lines, theatrical curtains, and display cases positioned on either side of its windows.

Both of those cases, however, are now empty as of our latest visit yesterday, July 18. These displays have previously contained various products from the store, including toys and other merchandise inspired by Pixar properties.

Each narrow frame now contains only a gold-colored Art Deco panel. The panels feature embossed fan and floral patterns, but appear intended to serve as temporary doors blocking the display during refurbishment, or as possible backing elements for posters.

The frames themselves remain intact. Dark green faux-marble surrounds their metallic trim, continuing the dramatic 1930s-inspired design of the storefront. There are no visible signs indicating that the cases are being refurbished or that new materials are coming soon.

That contrast leaves the two gold panels looking unusually plain within an otherwise carefully decorated stretch of the park. The displays may have been removed for replacement or maintenance, though Disney has not officially commented on this change.

Beverly Sunset Boutique primarily offers merchandise inspired by Pixar films. Its shelves typically include apparel, toys, plush, accessories, collectibles, and housewares featuring franchises such as Toy Story, Cars, Monsters, Inc., and The Incredibles.

The Reel Vogue, the facade that roughly frames the central section of the shop, was renamed in 2015, replacing Villains in Vogue, which had occupied the location since 1998 and specialized in Disney Villains merchandise.

Reel Vogue and the neighboring retail spaces were later combined during a 2018 transformation that created the current Beverly Sunset Boutique.
