Mallory Kenny, ESPN Director of Programming & Acquisitions, said college swimming brings “exciting competition” to ESPN’s collegiate sports lineup:

“College swimming features outstanding student-athletes, passionate fan bases and exciting competition, making the College Swimming League a strong addition to ESPN’s collegiate sports lineup. We’re excited to bring fans every regular-season meet on ESPN+ and the Wild Card and Championship on ESPNU, providing season-long coverage across our platforms.”

Rob Kent, CEO of the College Swimming League, called the ESPN agreement a major milestone for the league’s first season:

“Landing a deal with ESPN for our inaugural season is a monumental milestone that will elevate collegiate swimming to unprecedented heights. Fans across North America can tune in to watch 12 of the top NCAA swim programs compete in high-stakes, elite matchups. Broadcasting live from world-class venues across the United States, ESPN will bring the incredible speed and intense rivalries of the CSL straight into millions of homes, anchoring our league as a premier fixture in sports.”

The CSL describes itself as a fan-first event series designed to give college swimming a larger platform during the fall portion of the college swimming season. The league is built around live-event presentation and a more compact team format, packaging top NCAA programs into a season-long competition culminating with the Wild Card and Championship.

The deal also comes as ESPN continues emphasizing live sports across its streaming ecosystem. The announcement notes that the ESPN App offers access to ESPN networks and services through the ESPN Unlimited subscription, with features including multiview, synchronized two-screen viewing, shortform vertical video, personalized SportsCenter content, game stats, ESPN Fantasy integrations, betting odds, and merchandise.

The Walt Disney Company owns a controlling stake in ESPN, making the new agreement another addition to Disney’s growing live sports portfolio across ESPN, ESPN+, ESPNU, and the ESPN App.
