A new structure is under construction at Fast and Furious: Hollywood Drift in Universal Studios Florida, apparently for a ride scene.
Fast and Furious: Hollywood Drift Construction
Fast and Furious: Hollywood Drift replaces Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit at Universal Studios Florida. Most of the coaster is on a large site near the CityWalk lagoon, but the tracks continue down the side of the park.
Cars heading in and out of the load area will pass behind the stage in a large arc, but will be perceived as soaring over the Universal Music Plaza stage when viewed from the stage viewing area. There are still several gaps in the track as crews continue to install pieces. Some track supports are awaiting installation behind the stage.
Pictured above is the staging area near Epic Universe with more track pieces and supports to be installed.
On the right in the above picture is the loading building. Coaster cars will leave the building and turn where new structural steel has been installed around the track. This will be the first scene of the ride before launch along a switch track.
The track above is for cars returning to the load station.
In this photo, we can see a mural leftover from Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit on the back of a building. This will presumably be painted over when theming is added to Fast and Furious: Hollywood Drift.
An inversion is in development over two other stretches of track. At the bottom left is a switch track for the ride’s 170-foot tall spike.
