The American Adventure at EPCOT received Disney’s updated trash can treatment just in time for the Fourth of July.
Two new themed solar-powered trash cans have arrived at The American Adventure in EPCOT, continuing the recent rollout of updated waste disposals around Walt Disney World. We spotted the new cans near the fountain in front of The American Adventure pavilion. One on the left side and one on the right.
These follow the same newer solar-powered format seen in other recent EPCOT installations, with a taller rectangular body, dark side panels, a rounded metallic gray top, and a black push-door trash opening. The detailing, however, looks like the most overtly themed can we’ve seen to date.
Instead of an unassuming brown color with a dark metal medallion, this eye-catching bright white style features a patriotic emblem centered on the front. The shield includes red and white vertical stripes, a blue banner with white stars, gold trim, and “76” at the top — a clear nod to 1776 and the pavilion’s American history theme.

The trash opening itself is black, with a gold trash can icon and the word “TRASH” printed beside it. A white foot pedal is located at the bottom of the unit, allowing guests to open the can hands-free.
The new trash cans blend more cleanly into the American Adventure area than the standard EPCOT trash cans, with its bright colors and patriotic shield tying it directly to the pavilion’s architecture and theme.
This is the latest development in Disney’s ongoing rollout of solar-powered trash cans across EPCOT and other areas of Walt Disney World. In June, we covered the first appearance of new solar-powered trash and recycling cans elsewhere in World Showcase at EPCOT. More recently, we spotted the first instance of similar cans installed in Magic Kingdom.
The updated trash cans are designed with solar-powered compacting technology, allowing them to hold more waste before needing to be emptied. Stay tuned for more updates as the new solar-powered trash cans continue to appear around Walt Disney World.
