Spider-Man: Brand New Day could swing into theaters with the biggest domestic opening weekend of 2026.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day

According to Boxoffice Pro, Spidey’s next Marvel Cinematic Universe adventure is projected to earn between $230 million and $250 million during its first weekend in North American theaters.
Either end of that range would easily surpass the year’s current record holder, Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story 5, which debuted with approximately $160 million domestically in June.
The forecast would also give Brand New Day the second-biggest opening in the history of the Spider-Man film franchise. It would trail only 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, which opened to $260.1 million in North America amid intense anticipation surrounding the returns of former Spider-Man stars Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield.
The next-highest opening for a Spider-Man film belongs to 2007’s Spider-Man 3, which earned $151.1 million during its debut. Tom Holland’s first solo adventure, Spider-Man: Homecoming, opened with $117 million in 2017, while 2019’s Spider-Man: Far From Home collected $92.5 million across its traditional three-day opening weekend.
The projection stems from data for the film showing strong advance ticket sales as positive signs for the new film. The publication also suggested that Sony’s decision to position the movie at the end of July could help it become the final major blockbuster of the summer, with relatively limited competition throughout August potentially encouraging repeat viewings.
The prediction follows a mixed summer for other major franchises. Supergirl performed below expectations, while Disney’s live-action Moana also tracked toward a softer-than-anticipated run. Exhibitors will be hoping Brand New Day delivers a late-season boost similar to Deadpool & Wolverine, which opened with $211.4 million in July 2024 and ultimately earned $636.7 million domestically.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day continues Peter Parker’s story after Doctor Strange’s spell caused the world to forget his identity at the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home. The film’s first trailer became the biggest movie-trailer launch of all time, recording 718.6 million views.
Tom Holland returns as Peter Parker alongside Zendaya as MJ and Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds. The cast also includes Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle/Punisher, Michael Mando as Mac Gargan/Scorpion, and Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk. Sadie Sink appears in an undisclosed role.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is still over a month away from theaters, but the next Marvel Cinematic Universe Spider-Man film is already swinging past major promotional milestones.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day swings into theaters on July 31, 2026.
