The Untrainable Dragon will close for refurbishment in September. It’s a Broadway-style stage show featuring Hiccup and Toothless in How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk at Epic Universe.

Guests will be unable to view the show from September 15, 2026 to September 20, 2026. Though a brief closure, there is no word on what Universal plans to do to the attraction during this time.

When a new dragon shows up on the Isle of Berk, the Vikings think they may have finally met their match. Hiccup and Toothless, with help from Gobber and Astrid, work together to solve the mystery of The Untrainable Dragon. Experience the wonder of dragons onstage and soaring overhead in this spectacular, music-filled, heart-warming live show.
“The Untrainable Dragon” is a show that originally premiered at Universal Studios Beijing, though the show was simply called “Untrainable” in its previous version. The Epic Universe version of the show marks its first time performing in the United States. The show runs approximately 20 minutes in length.
The show includes a scene with a massive puppet version of Toothless flying over the audience. Toothless weighs 1,157 pounds and has a wingspan of nearly 27 feet, according to the official Universal website.
