The top of the carousel at the future Tropical Americas land in Disney’s Animal Kingdom has been placed into position.
Tropical Americas Carousel
On our visit today to the Tropical Americas construction site in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, we spotted a boom lift lowering the center framing for the top of the carousel into position. Workers on top of the carousel structure were aligning the prefabricated section and securing it into place.
Beams for the outer section of the carousel roof were installed last week, as seen in the image above. Also installed last week was a boxy framework surrounded by short steel posts. These were the support system and the beginnings of the second, smaller central roof, as seen in the concept art below.
The carousel will consist of wood-carved Disney animals, including Kevin from Up.
Tropical Americas is set to open in 2027 and will consist of the fictional village of Pueblo Esperanza, featuring the carousel and Encanto ride. DINOSAUR is being reimagined into an Indiana Jones ride. There will also be a new playground.
