A recently filed construction permit from Universal Orlando Resort could be for a new ride.

The Notice of Commencement contracts theme park ride engineer Garmendale for “Equipment Install.” The description doesn’t give much intel and the address is generic but The Lost Continent area at Universal Islands of Adventure is the only location a new ride is expected any time soon (other than Fast and Furious: Hollywood Drift already under construction at Universal Studios Florida).

The Lost Continent is currently being demolished for something new, but Universal hasn’t revealed what. The Eighth Voyage of Sindbad theater was completely torn down and crews are now in the process of destroying the Poseidon’s Fury building, confirming whatever new land is coming to the space won’t reuse these buildings.

That means the new land will need brand-new attractions. Garmendale could be working on one of these.

Garmendale has worked with Universal before, including on the gating system for Jurassic World VelociCoaster and other Jurassic rides around the world.

That said, it’s possible Garmendale is working on the refurbishment of Jurassic Park River Adventure at Islands of Adventure.

Their ride systems include peoplemovers, motion simulators, spinners, battery powered boats, and trains.
