We tried a few of the options available at Dockside Diner for the separately ticketed Jollywood Nights at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Dockside Diner Special Menu Items for Disney Jollywood Nights
Spicy Pimento-Kimchi Dip – $4.99
topped with chives and served with fresh house-made wonton chips
Disney Jollywood Nights has a number of interesting dishes, and the Spicy Pimento-Kimchi Dip is one of them.
The dip definitely tastes like kimchi and pimento cheese mixed together, and, surprisingly, they complement each other well. The cheese blends well with the flavor of the kimchi, and the pimento adds a nice spice; this dish is on the spicier side, so be warned.
Our batch of wonton chips was rather greasy, so we hope that we simply just got a bad batch or that Disney can improve this aspect of the dish. It’s well-suited for sharing and we recommend it if you and your friends would like to try something unique.
Roasted Eggplant Dip – $4.99
Topped with chives and served with warm pita bread
The eggplant dip was good, although we found it somewhat unremarkable. We suspect there’s not much in this dip besides eggplant — as it was not only the dominant flavor, but the only flavor. There was a slight sharpness to the taste, possibly from the addition of some sort of citric acid as a preservative.
The pita bread was quite serviceable as the side for the dip. Eggplant fans should check this out, but overall we’d say there are more memorable dishes at this event.
Poutine Tots – $6.49
Potato barrels topped with gravy, brisket, mozzarella curds, and chives
This is one of the few dishes we would absolutely not recommend from the offerings at Disney Jollywood Nights. The brisket was diced into small chunks and not tender at all. The mozzarella cheese was not remotely melted, and the gravy had somewhat of a chemical taste.
The potato barrels were on the soggy side, as though this serving had been sitting for a while before it was served to us. There are quite literally dozens of better food options at this event, and we encourage you to try one of those instead.
Christmas Tree Cookie Stack – $5.29
Vanilla cookie stack filled with pistachio buttercream, cranberry, and raspberry jam topped with sprinkles and a yellow candy star
This won our vote for the cutest snack we tried at Disney Jollywood Nights. This Chrismtas Tree Cookie Stack is highly Instagrammable. The description says the cookies are vanilla, but they actually have a hint of spice to them, maybe a little bit of nutmeg and star anise.
The icing is supposed to be pistachio buttercream, but we really didn’t taste it; it mostly tasted of vanilla. There was also no real evidence of cranberry or raspberry jam in the bites that we tried.
All of that aside, it is still a very tasty treat, but more importantly, worth a try just for the cute photos you’ll be able to take with it.
Sandy Claws Hot Cocoa – $4.99
“Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas”-inspired dark chocolate hot cocoa topped with cherry whipped cream (Non-alcoholic)
If you could take a dark chocolate-covered cherry and turn it into a drink, it would be this. The dark chocolate hot cocoa is very distinctively dark chocolate — they’re not just calling it such.
The whipped cream has a solid cherry taste that is rich and not overly sugary or artificial. This is a nice, sweet treat, especially if you like this flavor combination.
Naughty or Nice – $9
Crown Royal Whisky and ginger mixed with orange, cranberry, and grapefruit juices topped with fresh cranberries
The Naughty or Nice is another great cocktail offering at Disney Jollywood Nights. This drink is very ginger-forward, so be warned.
The grapefruit is also prominent, but not overwhelming. The cranberry adds a nice hint of tartness. It’s not overly sweet, but it’s also too boozy; we could barely taste the whiskey in this cocktail. It’s not our favorite drink out of everything we tried, but it’s still a solid offering.
