Limited-Time Refreshing Berry & Mango Shaved Ice at Tokyo Disneyland

For the hot summer at Tokyo Disneyland, the Plaza Pavilion Restaurant is serving two limited-time shaved ice snacks.

A restaurant menu titled "Plaza Pavilion" lists three items: Shared Ice (Â¥700), Meat Pastry & Fried Shrimp with Tartar Sauce Set (Â¥1,480), and Child's Set (Â¥800), with Japanese text and images.

The flavors available are berry and milk, and mango and wasanbon (fine-grained Japanese sugar). Though the promotional photos show the treat with Mickey and Minnie cookies on top, ours came with Pluto and Donald cookies.

It seems the characters on the cookies are random.

Berry & Milk Shaved Ice – Â¥800

A cup of shaved ice with red syrup and a cookie featuring a cartoon dog on top, placed on a tray with a blue and black tiled background.

This is a simple but fantastic treat. The cookie is a soft and delicate shortbread. There’s a large portion of shaved ice with a nice, fresh berry sauce that doesn’t taste artificial at all.

A glass bowl containing a partially melted red frozen dessert with a black spoon. There are visible whole berries, including cranberries and a blueberry.

It tastes like real macerated strawberries. Every bite is bursting with flavor.

Mango & Wasanbon Shaved Ice – Â¥800

Two containers of colorful shaved ice on a tray, each topped with a character-themed cookie. The ice has different colors layered and includes small pieces of fruit at the bottom.

The mango is just plopped on top of this shaved ice. Even though it’s a big clump, it’s a pretty mild flavor. You get a hint of mango and then sweetness. It’s more sugary and less flavorful than the berry version. We don’t like it as much, but that could also be a personal preference.

These are available through August 31.
