The Orange County Register reports that Disneyland will spend $600,000 to replace the Jungle Cruise tiger scene inside the crumbling ruins section.

Jungle Cruise Refurbishment

According to the Disneyland website, Jungle Cruise will be closed from September 16 through October 3. Last November, we reported on walls suddenly going up around the ruins, with the audio-animatronic tiger still visible at the center of the scene. Some theming was added to the walls soon after but there have been no changes since.

The fake ruins reportedly crumbled, and now Disneyland is finally going to fix them. According to OCR, they filed permits valued at $600,000 for new electrical, footings, a steel frame, and cement plaster rockwork.

The photo above illustrates how the scene previously looked, with an archway above and behind the tiger. The four crocodiles remain on the steps, as does the giant statue of a head embedded in a nearby tree.

Coincidentally, Jungle Cruise at Walt Disney World just closed for a two-month refurbishment. Both U.S.A. versions of the attraction were significantly updated in 2021 with cultural sensitivity changes and a refreshed story.
