Adventureland Pavement Replacement Expands Further in Magic Kingdom

Work on the themed Adventureland pavement in Magic Kingdom has expanded past the Jungle Navigation Co. LTD Skipper Canteen.

Adventureland Pavement Work

In August, we reported that new thematic pavement was being added in Adventureland just after the bridge. Less than 10 days ago, we updated our reports as the pavement had expanded to the Skipper Canteen entrance. Since then, we have noted slight changes and further work in the past few days.

On September 12, just a day after our last update, the themed pavement extended through to the blue Guest Experience Team umbrella kiosk in Adventureland. This update continues the previous pattern seen on the updated pavement of animal prints, cracks, and mossy texture.

Any time there is new pavement in the parks, Disney will typically rope off the area until it is reopened for guest traffic.

That same day, our reporter noted that Disney had started scoring the grey concrete on the opposite side of the walkway from the themed side. Scoring is when crews make shallow cuts to the concrete.

On the side of the path closer to the kiosks, the themed pavement faded into the gray tile work. This looks like a priming base that will be themed later on.

On September 14, we noted even more scoring had been done to the kiosk side of the pathway, just before the tiles. This scoring suggests work will be expanding outward and not deeper into the land just yet.

As of September 16, this theory came to fruition when the themed pavement was expanded, now that the other side was dry. The walkway features the same texture and design we have previously seen. It doesn’t yet touch the black stone shown here on the right, but there isn’t much space between them.

The newly themed pavement almost reaches the entrance of the Swiss Family Treehouse. It would seem that crews are only doing one side of the walkway at a time to not affect guest flow too much. There have been a few bottleneck situations in previous updates, but this latest addition does not appear to cause that same issue.

The first themed pavement area is now fully open to guests, and it seems to have lightened in color, making that green mossy texture pop. The light-colored pavement brightens the whole space.

Here’s a closer look at the newest Adventureland pavement installment. The various animal prints are perhaps the most endearing change. Disney is known for their attention to detail, and this feels like a positive addition to Adventureland.
