Walt Disney World Waives Hotel Cancellation & Change Fees as Hurricane Milton Approaches Florida

Walt Disney World is waiving cancellation and change fees for guests with reservations at the resort hotels due to Hurricane Milton.

UPDATE – 10/7/24, 3:13 p.m.: This policy has been extended from Saturday, October 12 to Sunday, October 13. The article now reflects these changes.

The following changes are in effect for the policy:

Due to potential weather impacts to guest travel plans, change and cancellation fees imposed by Disney will be waived for check-in dates of Sunday, 10/6 – Saturday, 10/12.

Most room-only and vacation packages can be modified, or canceled online, including changes to travel dates, without fees. Packages including air transportation or other services provided by third parties, or those with travel protection, cannot be modified or canceled online. For Guests with these reservations please call for assistance.

This applies to stays with check in dates between October 6 and 13. Hurricane Milton is currently expected to make landfall in Florida later this week as a category 3.

This is in addition to the standard hurricane policy, which gives guests the ability to change or cancel reservations if a hurricane warning is issued for Orlando within seven days of a guest’s check in date. A Hurricane warning is not currently in effect for Walt Disney World, but its home of Orange County is included under the State of Emergency declared by Governor DeSantis.

Stay tuned for more updates as Hurricane Milton approaches.
