People crowded Disney Springs to see the new drone show this summer. But some people also witnessed something else — a Florida man’s drunken arrest in full view of families there for some wholesome Disney entertainment.
Ryan Tomasko, 38, of Wesley Chapel, was arrested for trespass, disorderly intoxication and resisting an officer without violence following the August 9 incident. He pleaded not guilty, according to Orange Circuit Court records.
WDWNT is reporting on the arrest now because it takes weeks for the Orange County Sheriff’s Office to release public records.
Tomasko got kicked out of Hawthorne Heights show at the House of Blues for being drunk, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s arrest report.
“Ryan started to walk towards the exit, while swaying towards poles that were placed on the sidewalk in front of the House of Blues. To prevent Ryan from colliding with the poles and possibly falling and injuring himself, I placed my hand on Ryan’s back and started to guide him away from the poles,” the deputy wrote in the arrest report. “Ryan reached the front of the restaurant located at the House of Blues at which time he stopped walking and attempted to lean onto a pole located in front of the establishment.”
Orange County deputies tried to usher the stumbling Tomasko toward the exit as families began watching the scene.
But Tomasko “continued to walk straight, towards a crowded area where Disney guests were gathering for the drone show,” the arrest report said.
Tomasko purposefully began moving even slower, the report said.
“To avoid any potential conflict and/or injuries to bystanders, I grabbed Ryan’s left shirt arm to guide him to the closest exit at which time Ryan pulled his arm away from me,” the deputy wrote. “At this time, due to Ryan’s refusal to follow lawful orders to leave the property at the nearest exit, his intoxication in a crowded public place with several families and persons attempting to enjoy their time at Disney Springs, coupled with the fact that Ryan was asked to leave several times, I attempted to take Ryan into custody.”
The deputies escorted Tomasko to an employee area behind the scenes, but Tomasko locked his legs to avoid moving, and he squeezed down on the deputies’ arms who were holding him and guiding him, the arrest report said.
Finally, Tomasko was put in a patrol car and taken to the Orange County Jail.
Tomasko’s attorney did not respond to a message for comment.
