The film, set to premiere in theaters on May 1, 2026, will be the first Avengers film since 2019’s “Avengers: Endgame.” As with the previous two Avengers films, Doomsday will be the first part of a two-part story, ending with “Avengers: Secret Wars” in 2027.

These films will conclude the Multiverse Saga in the MCU, so it is expected that many characters across the vast history of Marvel movies, television, and comics will make their way to the big screen again or for the first time. Alongside Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr. was announced to be returning to the MCU as Doctor Doom in “Avengers: Doomsday.”

Now, Hayley Atwell has joined the expanding list of confirmed appearances in the exciting multiverse story, which will be directed by veteran Avengers directors Joe and Anthony Russo.

Captain America

Atwell first appeared on screen as Peggy Carter in “Captain America: The First Avenger” in 2011. Since then, she has reprised the role in “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” the spin-off television series Agent Carter, and as a multiverse variant Captain Carter in the Disney+ series “Marvel’s What If…?

It is unclear at this time if she will appear as a flashback, playing the original Peggy, a variant such as Captain Carter, or something new entirely.
