The Hurry Home – A Lunar New Year Celebration preshow has returned to World of Color -ONE performances in Disney California Adventure with a new finale for the Year of the Snake.
Hurry Home
Hurry Home – A Lunar New Year Celebration is a six-minute preshow that is added to the beginning of World of Color – ONE performances. The short preshow features the story of Little Lantern as it travels to return home to meet its family for the Lunar New Year.
Along its journey, Little Lantern meets Mulan and Mushu.
The preshow has an original score composed by Tan Dun, an Academy Award-winning composer. The show also utilizes the fountains and projection technology from World of Color.
New to the preshow this year, the grand finale features the projection of a large red snake to celebrate 2025 as the Year of the Snake.
The preshow concludes with “Happy New Year” projected in multiple languages.
One other change worth noting is that the preshow usually concludes with some low-level fireworks. No fireworks were used during the performance we watched on the first night, January 17, but it is unknown if this was a temporary change or if the fireworks have been permanently removed from the preshow.
The preshow runs on select nights from January 17 to February 16, 2025. We also have a video of the returning Mulan’s Lunar New Year Procession parade and a photo tour of the new Lunar New Year decorations at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa.
