Sandwiches
Baguette Ratatouille Provençale – $16.99
Roasted tomatoes, zucchini, squash, and eggplant; topped with pickled red onions and arugula; drizzled with basil pistou; served in a warm, crusty baguette

First, this is a perfect baguette with just the right level of crunch and softness to work as a sandwich. The pesto (or pistou) is spread across all the toppings, which have all been cooked properly to just the right texture. It needs a bit more seasoning, maybe just some more salt and pepper, and then this would be a 7.

Baguette de Dinde – $16.99
Sliced cracked black pepper turkey, apples, brie, and arugula; topped with mustard butter and apple butter; served in a warm, crusty baguette

Unfortunately, the bread on this second sandwich was not as fresh and a bit more difficult to chew. You first get a kick from the mustard. Then, the apple butter adds just a hint of sweet to the black pepper turkey, which is tender and juicy. However, we felt like this was supposed to be a cold, deli-style sandwich, and ours was served lukewarm. The side salad was also a little underdressed compared to some of the salads with the other dishes.

Plats du Jour (Daily Dishes)
Soupe et Salade Maison – $13.99
French onion soup topped with gruyère cheese, served with baguette croutons and a house greens salad

The price isn’t bad for a soup and salad in a theme park. The salad was nicely seasoned and the dressing was light enough to not overpower the other ingredients, which were all fresh. The broth of the French onion soup was actually very good as well, and we appreciated that it wasn’t overly salty. We were a little confused at first because the “croutons” are large chunks of bread underneath the cheese topping, but our reporter later said the bread “was to die for” and didn’t mind having extra. It ended up being the best theme park French Onion Soup we’ve ever had.

Salad Niçoise – $16.99
Tuna salad, fingerling potatoes, Niçoise olives, eggs, tomatoes, haricot verts, pickled red onions, and mustard vinaigrette

This is plated as a deconstructed salad, in the usual style. The texture of the tuna was strange, and reminded us more of dry chicken than fish texture-wise. The lettuce was fresh, the vinaigrette was tasty, and the olives were surprisingly fresh for a theme park. We could imagine putting this in the middle of the table to share, and liked everything apart from the tuna.

Cassoulet Végétalien aux Haricots Blancs – $18.99
Stew with cannellini beans, vegan sausage, vegan bacon, trumpet mushrooms, carrots, and tomatoes; topped with baguette croutons

The broth for the stew was very good, though perhaps a bit heavy on the vinegar and a little bitter as a result. The roasted tomatoes added a slightly smoky flavor, and this contained an entire vegan sausage. We appreciated having a heavier vegan option compared to the usual salad or burger. If they get the balance of vinegar corrected, we would easily rank this higher.

Boeuf Bourguignon – $18.99
Braised beef slow-cooked in a Burgundy wine, with mushrooms, pearl onions, roasted carrots, and bacon lardons; served with pommes purée

The potato purée is a very standard mashed potato, which were very thick and creamy but not overly seasoned. The beef was very tender and well-seasoned, though it became tougher as you moved out of the center and took bites from the edges. The bacon lardons are basically thick-cut bacon topping, almost like pork belly. We docked it one point because of the inconsistent beef quality, but if that was fixed the dish would become a 7.

Poulet à la Provençale – $17.99
Herbs de Provence roasted chicken, roasted fingerling potatoes, and Haricot verts; drizzled with tomato olive vinaigrette

We liked the potatoes with this dish much better than some of the others because they were served hot. The same goes for the green beans, which we prefer here instead of the cold Salad Niçoise. The chicken itself is covered in tomatoes, which we highly recommend getting with every bite. The meat was cooked well, and we were pleasantly surprised with how chicken meat came with this dish for the price.

Galette de Tomates et Fromage – $16.99
Roasted tomato, soubise, and goat cheese baked in a butter pastry

We genuinely couldn’t believe this dish was being served at a theme park counter-service restaurant. The dough was buttery and thick, so only get this if you want something heavy. The baked tomato with the goat cheese is an amazing combination that is very hearty in a good way. We will be getting this again, probably soon.

Steak Haché au Poivre – $18.99
Seasoned chopped beef au poivre style served with pommes frites and a house greens salad

Despite being called a steak, this is actually a basic hamburger patty. The au poivre sauce, which includes broth and peppercorn, was very good. But a good sauce couldn’t save what was still an overdone hamburger patty on a plate. There was a light dusting of cheese on the fries, and they were solid if not spectacular. This also has a different salad than some of the previous items, as ours did not contain any tomatoes.

Quiche Lorraine – $16.99
Savory egg custard baked in a flaky pie crust filled with bacon, gruyère cheese, caramelized onions, and Mornay sauce; served with a house greens salad

We tried bites of this from both the end with the Mornay sauce and without it. There was nothing wrong with the Mornay, but we almost preferred it without the sauce. The crust is flaky and buttery, the bacon was perfectly salty, the egg was creamy. As an added bonus, it was served still warm despite egg losing heat super quicky. We would highly recommend this dish, just maybe ask for the sauce on the side.

Desserts
Crème Brûlée – $6.99
Vanilla bean custard with fresh berries

To put it simply, this is a perfect Crème Brûlée. It is a totally standard, absolutely not-themed dessert, but we simply didn’t care. If you like Crème Brûlée, this completes the assignment with flying colors. There are more unique desserts in Epic Universe, but it feels right for the setting and we will be back to order this again.

Bièraubeurre Crêpe – $19.99
Shortbread cookie butter Bavarian cream, Bièraubeurre cream, strawberries, Bièraubeurre drizzle, and a shortbread cookie garnish

You do get two full-sized crepes, but we expected them to be served warmer than they were. These were noticeably cold, as though they came out of a fridge. The texture of the crepes themselves was fantastic, but we almost wondered if the extra Butterbeer over the top really added anything to the dish. It was good but not great, making it a little difficult to fully recommend at a nearly $20 price point.
Rating out of 7: 5
Crêpe Citronnée aux Chambord – $19.99
Lemon cream cheese, Chambord sauce, and fresh berries wrapped in a delicate crêpe

This was not served nearly as cold as the previous Bièraubeurre Crêpe. The berry and lemon makes this very tart, and the dry crepes needed a pool of the sauce instead of just a drizzle. Our thoughts were that this was forgettable at best and overall just not put together well.

Dirigible Plum Juice Mocktail – $7.49
Apple, peach, dragonfruit, passion fruit, and mixed citrus punch with a dried apricot

This reminded us of cranberry juice, even though the actual flavor is plum, with just a bit less tartness than cranberry. It is a pretty standard fruit juice drink, though we thought it was still refreshing and not too sticky. We would be happy to get this again if we were in a plum juice mood.

Overall
First, we have to say that the interior of Cafe L’air de la Sirène is gorgeous, and it is worth coming into this restaurant just for the aesthetic alone. That being said, there were also several high-quality dishes that were both tasty and fit perfectly with the French setting. Our top contenders were the Galette de Tomates et Fromage, the Crème Brûlée, and the Quiche Lorraine (even despite the fact that we removed one point due to the sauce). There were also several more items that we ranked as a 5 or 6 simply due to some quality or seasoning issues, which could vary widely depending on the day and who prepared it. If more of the dishes were served at the right temperature and with a bit more seasoning, this would be a menu absolutely stacked with 7-ratings. Overall, we look forward to sitting at one of the outdoor tables, watching the people on the street, and ordering one of these again soon.
