REVIEW: New Snacks at EPCOT, Including Mickey-Shaped Pistachio Macaron, Mochi-Gori, & More

Three new snacks have arrived at EPCOT — a Mickey-shaped Pistachio Macaron, a new Obatzda cheese offered with the Germany pavilion jumbo pretzel, and the Mochi-Gori from the Japan pavilion — and we reviewed them all!

Mickey-Shaped Pistachio Macaron – $5.79

Kicking things off is the new Mickey-shaped Pistachio Macaron from Sunshine Seasons, located in The Land pavilion.

A hand holds a green Mickey-shaped macaron in front of a Seasons restaurant sign inside a bright building.

Honestly, there’s not a lot of flavor to this macaron. We like pistachio, but it’s not very forward flavor-wise, despite being the only flavor to this treat. We’ve had macarons that are much stronger in their advertised flavor than this.

The texture of the macaron is quite nice when it’s fresh, with a soft exterior and gooey inteiror. However, it does fall apart almost immediately in the Florida heat. Overall, we find this kind of boring, and think you can find better for the cost from the France pavilion if you’re really craving a macaron.

Jumbo Pretzel with House-made Obatzda Cheese Dip – $14.25 total

Our next new item can be found at Sommerfest, located in the Germany pavilion. The House-made Obatzda cheese dip is just $1.50, but the jumbo pretzel is a separate purchase at $11.99

You immediately get hit with the delicious smell of this cheese dip once you receive it. As for the flavor, we were blown away. The overall flavors meld together in a dynamic way, with a slight smoky spice to it. We think it would pair nicely with a beer from Germany, too. For just $1.50, this is a great pairing with the jumbo pretzel, which is always a good option.

Rating out of 7: 6 for the pretzel, 7 for the cheese

The Mochi-Gori – $12

Our final stop takes us to Kabuki Cafe, located in the Japan pavilon, for the Mochi-Gori.

The mochi-donut here is standard but still very tasty, with no specific flavoring added. The whipped cream is just fine, but is super messy (we ended up wearing it by the end of our review). With the kakigori shaved ice, you can choose between several flavors; we opted to go with the Cast Member’s recommendation of cherry. It’s quite refreshing on a hot day, but we can’t help but consider how expensive this is for what you get when boiled down to the basics.

While the Mochi-Gori is the most summery of the snacks we tried, our favorite overall was the Obatzda cheeese. Have you tried any of these new items at EPCOT? If so, let us know what you thought in the comments and on social media.
