The demonstrations used to happen approximately every 30 minutes in SeaBase Alpha but have been suspended since Walt Disney World closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020. The lock-out chamber has sat unused in the aquarium for the past five years.

VP of Disney’s Animals, Science, and Environment Dr. Mark Penning announced on Instagram that the demos will return on Tuesday, July 22. He shared video of a practice run.

During the presentations, a diver in a wetsuit with an air tank goes into the lock-out chamber while a Cast Member outside of the chamber explains what’s going on and talks to guests. The chamber fills with water so the diver can demonstrate the use of the air tank. The demos are about 10 minutes.
