Framing Begins on New Structure at Former Cool Ship Location at Magic Kingdom

Framing has begun at the new structure at the former site of the Cool Ship in Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom.

Cool Ship Construction

Just a few days ago, only orange spray paint outlined the future construction on the concrete pad. Now, wooden framing has been added to the platform in the same odd shape. While the back left of the structure looks like two regular walls, the right side and front have several sections that protrude out from the center.

Just to the left of the new framing structure is a smaller square surrounding water pipes. This could mean a mister will return to the location, similar to the former Cool Scanner.

Other piping and wiring can also be seen surrounding the newly built structure. The planters in the area look relatively untouched, so they will likely remain.

For reference, above is what Cool Ship and the nearby Cool Scanner looked like before their removal. If the new structure is built in the current form, it will be a completely new design. After suddenly closing in May, Cool Ship was completely dismantled and removed from Magic Kingdom. The Walt Disney World website, however, says the outdoor location is “expected to reopen later this year,” so it will likely keep the same name.

Based on construction, what do you think the new snack location will look like?  Let us know in the comments and on social media.
