Covered in chocolate and bacon, is the new Chocolate Bourbon Milk Shake at Walt Disney World worth the high price tag? Find out in our complete food review.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios

This milk shake is available from Hollywood Scoops, which is an outdoor snack location located on Sunset Boulevard in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Signage advertising the shake has been added to the stanchions by the queue, though it is not currently listed on the location’s digital menu.
Chocolate Bourbon Milk Shake – $16.50
Chocolate milk shake with Jim Beam Red Stag black cherry bourbon, chocolate syrup, whipped cream, and candied bacon (contains alcohol)

Our first impression is that this shake is on the smaller side. The size is not the standard milk shake cup. For comparison, this is slightly smaller than the Chocolate Peanut Butter Bourbon Shake added earlier this year to Disney’s Pop Century Resort. It comes with a striped straw for sipping it on to go, but no lid.

The chocolate and bourbon is mixed in the bottom, and the shake is topped with a hefty pile of whipped cream. A slice of the bacon is wrapped around the top.

Our reporter’s initial comment was that this shake is “dangerous.” You don’t taste the bourbon in the first few sips, so you drink it without taking a break. Then, after a minute or so, the bourbon hits you full force. There is definitely a decent amount of alcohol in this, so don’t get it if you expect a bourbon-lite snack.

The bacon caught us by surprise. The menu description just says “candied bacon,” but it is not the standard sugar coating on bacon. We believe it was coated in cayenne, or some other similar spice, because it makes your mouth burn when you bite it. Even if you take the bacon off, there is still a remaining tinge of spice on the whipped cream over the rest of the shake. Our reporter was barely able to eat it, even after dipping each bite in the whipped cream.

Overall, we really liked this shake a lot. It has a great mixture of bourbon and chocolate, and you get a lot of alcohol instead of it being too diluted by the other ingredients. The price isn’t as unreasonable for the size as we initially anticipated, largely due to the large amount of bourbon, but it is still expensive to be so small.
Also, we wish the bacon wasn’t spicy. It kills your tongue and doesn’t add anything to the flavor. If nothing else, the spice should definitely be mentioned on the menu.
We would only rank it second behind the Chocolate Peanut Butter Bourbon Shake at Pop Century, just because that one is a bit larger and the peanut butter was better than the bacon. But we would still be happy to order this again during another Hollywood Studios visit.
