Walkways Closed During Construction at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Meadow Swimming Pool Area

Construction is underway on the expansion of the Meadow Recreation Area at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground.

Meadow Recreation Area Construction

Meadow Swimmin’ Pool is still open, but there are construction walls and scrim around the area. A fence covered in green scrim runs down from the pool area to the nearby canal. Yellow barriers catch construction materials and debris from floating in the water.

Brown construction walls run behind the Meadow Swimmin’ Pool slide, leaving just a few feet of space for lifeguards.

Another set of fencing and scrim is standing on the far side of the pool. The walls continue into a backstage area.

On the bus, we passed by another roadway blocked by barriers. There were some handheld slow/stop signs propped up nearby in case crew members need to direct traffic.

Signs throughout the campgrounds direct guests to the Meadow Recreation Area, including parking, the swimming pool, the snack bar, the campfire show, and the bike barn.

A bridge that is usually open for guests to reach the pool is now closed. It similarly has a sign posted on its green barrier. The permanent sign pointing to the recreation area is still in place next to the bridge.

The expansion will include a new zero-entry pool and deck area alongside the existing pool, effectively doubling the space. There will also be a new tennis court and two pickleball courts.

Meadow Swimmin’ Pool has a 67-foot-long corkscrew waterslide, a whirlpool spa, and a fort-themed water play area. The pool area hosts family-friendly activities like themed parties with games, relays, and trivia. The Meadow recreation area is near Meadow Trading Post and the campground, while the Wilderness Swimmin’ Pool is among The Cabins.
