Liberty Belle Moved, May Be Ready for Work Out of Water

The Liberty Belle Riverboat has recently been moved after several months in the same spot. This suggests it may be ready for work out of the water.

Liberty Belle Riverboat

The vessel previously led guests on a leisurely voyage on the Rivers of America. It has a real working steam engine that took water from the Rivers of America and converted it to steam power, thus propelling the steamboat forward. However, Rivers of America is no more as Disney transform the area into Piston Peak, a Cars-themed land.

In late July, the Liberty Belle Riverboat and the Tom Sawyer Island rafts were moved to another area of the Magic Kingdom service canal across from the construction staging areas in progress west of Magic Kingdom. In August, it was moved to a backstage area just north of the park where it has remained since (pictured above).

Now, the ferryboat has been removed and the Liberty Belle Riverboat has backed up slightly, to a spot where a ramp can pull it out of the water. This move suggests Disney may be ready to do something with it.

For what purpose, we do not know. Disney has never shared information about what they may use the Liberty Belle for after Rivers of America.
