Tom the Lizard is friends with Mabel, the protagonist who turns into a beaver in the upcoming film Hoppers. He appeared to wave hello to visitors this morning at Sue Bierman Park in San Francisco, where ESPN is live broadcasting First Take.

Tom went viral in the summer of 2025 after a teaser trailer for Hoppers showed him spamming a phone with lizard emojis. The sound of the repeated “lizard, lizard” audio also went viral and became a meme.

In an Instagram video from laughing_place, Tom is meandering the park, waving at people. He also stops momentarily to wave at the ESPN stage nearby. He does little spins and dances for the onlookers as he wanders down the park pathways. It did not appear that he was greeting people directly from the video.
