Piston Peak National Park Permit Signals Vertical Construction Coming Soon

Walt Disney Imagineering has filed a new permit for construction at the Cars-inspired Piston Peak National Park addition to Frontierland in Magic Kingdom.

The Notice of Commencement lists Balfour Beatty as the contractor for “General Construction” near Big Thunder Mountain Railroad at Magic Kingdom. Balfour Beatty is a general contractor that has worked with Disney multiple times. They were also recently listed on a Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser permit.

This is a good sign that vertical construction at the Piston Peak site will pick up. So far, we’ve only seen vertical construction of a retaining wall. But work on show buildings and other facilities may begin soon.

The land will have two attractions, one being an off-road rally race and the other being family-friendly.
