It’s been quite a busy week at the Disneyland Resort! First, Disneyland Park celebrated its 64th birthday on July 17. The occasion was marked with a Birthday Celebration march and cavalcade on Main Street, U.S.A. And this celebration was soon followed by the last two performances of Mickey’s Soundsational Parade. With so much going on, the Resort has been feeling a little more crowded in the last week. Here’s an update on what the crowd situation looks like at Disneyland Park, as well as a look at some new merchandise spotted on Main Street.
Disneyland Park
The line to enter through the Disneyland Park turnstiles already hints at what the crowds will be like inside the Park.
Main Street, U.S.A.
Thankfully there are spots throughout the Park that aren’t quite as crowded as others, so guests have space to walk or take photos in peace. But overall, it already feels much busier than it was at the start of summer.
We stopped in Emporium and found a new set of colorful long-sleeve Disneyland shirts. These shirts are $39.99 each and come in green, salmon, purple, and yellow.
There are also a ton of new mini-buttons for sale by the registers.
The Mickey and Friends buttons are colorful and feature all of our favorite pals.
And if you’re still into the Disney Parks Snacks trend going on right now, you can show your love through these Snacks buttons.
But if Disney quotes are more your thing, there are plenty of buttons to choose from.
Back out on Main Street, we caught quite the crowd watching the Dapper Dans perform outside Disney Clothiers. They make frequent appearances throughout the day. If you haven’t had the chance to check them out already, we highly suggest it!
Fantasyland
Today was a great day for catching performances. As we headed for Fantasyland through Sleeping Beauty Castle, we managed to catch the Pearly Band with Mary Poppins and Bert.
We were surprised to see that the line for Peter Pan’s Flight was only 25 minutes, as we were expecting it to be longer with the crowds we’ve been seeing so far.
King Arthur Carousel, one of the original attractions from opening day at Disneyland Park, didn’t have much of a wait either.
And Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge land status has remained open, so guests haven’t had to worry about using the virtual queue system at all.
As we made our way further into Fantasyland and towards Mickey’s Toontown, we did notice the crowds slowly start to pick up.
Mickey’s Toontown
But despite the number of people going and coming from the pathway leading into Toontown, the land was relatively empty. Most guests were just visiting Mickey and Minnie.
Adventureland
Jungle Cruise, another opening day attraction, only had a 15 minute wait time. However, the rest of Adventureland felt packed. Despite the efforts to widen walkways, we definitely felt like the crowds were some of the heaviest in this spot in Disneyland.
New Orleans Square
After Adventureland, the walkway into New Orleans Square felt very crowded with people. The line for Pirates of the Caribbean was only 20 minutes. So it seems like people are mostly walking around and not really waiting in line for rides.
Haunted Mansion did have a longer wait than normal, but even 25 minutes isn’t bad for this attraction.
Critter Country
One of the big celebrations this week involved Splash Mountain, which celebrated 30 years since its debut at Disneyland. To mark the occasion, a line of 30th Anniversary Splash Mountain merchandise is for sale.
In Critter Country, we spotted a lot of guests using this land for their entry into Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. This is probably the busiest we’ve seen the trail since the reservation period.
Tomorrowland
Tomorrowland is just as busy as always as we walked through and made our way over to our last stop of the day. We couldn’t leave without riding yet another opening day attraction: Autopia.
