Disney’s Riviera Resort is starting to wrap up construction as we’re seeing more signage being installed and unveiled around the resort! A few weeks ago, we spotted the unveiling of a new Skyliner station sign in front of the resort. Today, we spotted a beautiful new sign with the initials “RR” (short for Riviera Resort) installed at the top of one of the towers!
Here’s a look at both new signs together. While they’re two completely different styles and looks, both signs are for the same resort. The sign is installed on the very top of the northwest side of the resort, for a perfect view from Buena Vista Drive.
Construction crews had just finished installing the sign when we spotted it, and were still on their way down from the cherry picker.
A close up look at the new sign reveals light bulbs for it to be illuminated from the inside at night. The tiny bulbs give us vague Boardwalk vibes, but it’s a whimsical touch.
It’s interesting to have the initials of the resort displayed so largely, but the font and the color scheme matches the aesthetic of the hotel with its rounded arches and domes.
What do you think of this brand new sign? Do you think the initials were a good choice or should it have been spelled out in its entirety? Let us know in the comments below!
As always, stay tuned to WDWNT.com for the latest updates on Riviera Resort and the Riviera Resort Skyliner Station ahead of the resort’s grand opening this December and the Skyliner grand opening September 29th!
I like the initials they remind me of the Rolls Royce logo.
looks cheesy.
Holy cow, that looks tacky.
I assume this is in lieu of having popcorn lights outlining the roofs like the Epcot resorts do-ish when their actually maintained.
I think it looks rather nice. Its playing off the design elements of most French Riviera resorts where the name is either displayed near the roof line, or on the corner turret. In this case, “Riviera Resort” would not work on such a small turret, it would look like the hotel “Le Negresco” in Nice where part of the name goes back the side of the building, but because the turret is nearly stand alone, they went with the letters “RR” which actually do work from a design stand point.
Sooo…. I guess the theme is…. Las Vegas Casino?!?
I personally like it. Just hope they paint the support structure so it disappears.
