PHOTOS: First Section of New Magic Kingdom Hub Opens to Guests

The first section of the new Magic Kingdom hub opened to guests this afternoon, revealing many months of work that has gone into turning the old waterway space into expanded paths and nighttime show viewing space for the park:

The side of the hub with Casey’s Corner is now open to guests, no word on when the other side might open

I would think this is hub west since it faces west, but this sign isn’t helping

The area with AstroTurf will be used for FastPass+ fireworks viewing

Wishes! is presented by Pandora jewelry, so the sections is sponsored as well

WHICH HUB IS IT?!?!

  1. I had many Disney World experiences as a youngster and it was always magical. Those experiences helped to shape me into the theatrical stage attractions producer that I am today. The magic and imagination that Disney provides as a whole is amazing. everything Disney is BIG!! One man’s dream opened the imaginations of millions for this I say thank you Walt.

  2. The redesigned hub looks great. I’m thinking the signage has directional disorder though. East is west and west is east…it’s like being in wonderland with Alice and the mad hatter. I half expected to see a white rabbit peaking out of the new landscape.

    • No fighting over spots maybe, but maybe when you get behind that special someone with an iPad on a selfie-stick on max brightness…With tri-folding covers fully unfurled.
      IPADs ON SELFIE-STICKS! :O

  3. We say the castle is north and everything is in relation to that. So Casey’s is on the west side, the jewelry store is on the east. This viewing area is on the west side of street south of castle. The plaza viewing area will be called east. It’s great to have pics but if you would have done a. bit of research or asked one cast member they could have given you the answer.

  4. It’s easier than EVER to remember where you are in the all new Hub. The north-eastern western Hub with the Fountains is closer to the Mountains, and now you’re in the “club” south of the green shrub facing north-west just south/south-easterly from the goofy brass stub which is closer to the east/north-westestern/right-left arrow hub (just rememberk club/hub/right-left/nw/s/se/stub/shrub).
Now here is a simply revolutionary rhyme to memorize the layout and placement of the new FastPass+ section:
The western but northeast section of the eastern central hub up has night-light stalactites facing downwardly, and the south/north-westerly east-facing FastPass+ stand stalagmites facing upward to the east/north-by-northwestern-most segment of the southern left-most hub with right-facing shrubs, staying left and north then southward again of the no brass topped fence-stubs next to shrubs outward facing from the right-most eastern corner of the top-most facing hub stub placing with steel lubs facing round the short shrub planters without any shiny copper fence nubs next to the gutter gantries, north inwardly by westward.
And that’s the low-downward of the new, upward hub rub!

  5. I agree… The viewing area is on the west side of Main Street. Just like Innoventions West is on the West side of Future World at Epcot. I do not get what is confusing about it…

    • Read the sign and you will understand the confusion. The sign reads fireworks viewing west which is correct. But the top of the sign says plaza gardens east. Thus the “confusion.”

  6. Does no one understand sarcasm???? It was sarcastic “confusion” because of the sign. Even cast members thought it was funny that it was messed up. Quit acting like the whole world is not as smart as you and appreciate the team posting these pictures and info for your enjoyment!!!! And if you don’t understand the humor behind the teams comments then keep it to yourself please.

  7. I miss the water way. Wish they could have just expanded the walkways, but kept the ‘moat’.
