On a hot Florida day, nothing says pot of gold at the end of the rainbow quite like an ice cream sandwich. This treat has made a seasonal appearance here before, but we sure are glad to see it back!
This giant ice cream sandwich is made from two double chocolate chip cookies (with white and milk chocolate chips) and hand-scooped mint chocolate chip ice cream. The whole thing is rolled in shamrock sprinkles to give it that St. Patrick’s Day flare.
Right away, we were impressed with the size of this snack. You can see that it basically fills the plate it was served on, and the plate is about as big as our hand spread open, so this snack is a good size. It’s also a very thick ice cream sandwich, with a good helping of ice cream between two generously thick cookies.
Once we cut it open (which was a little difficult) and took a bite, we were sold. The cookies were thick, and had a good flavor. The two types of chocolate chips were noticeable and delicious. They were a little tough, but not crunchy. Without that rigidity, we think this sandwich would be difficult to eat. The mint chocolate chip ice cream was tasty, but was a pretty basic version of this classic flavor.
The flavors were balanced, and complimented each other very well. The shamrock sprinkles were a nice festive touch. We think given this treat’s size it’s great to share, but it’s difficult to cut in half, so be warned.
We can heartily recommend this seasonal ice cream sandwich, so hurry and get one before they’re gone!
You can find it at Dino-Bite Snacks in Disney’s Animal Kingdom for $6.99.
