Just weeks after they announced sailings were cancelled through February, Disney Cruise Line’s shutdown is now expected to last through March 2021.
According to the Orlando Sentinel‘s Richard Tribou, the cruise line has removed bookings for the month from its website. A visit to the page confirmed the report, though no official cancellation of sailings has been announced as of the writing of this article, meaning it’s possible that new bookings may be cancelled to reduce capacity.
Disney Cruise Line has been particularly hard-hit by COVID-19 pandemic. If the cancellations are formally announced, it would mark a full year of suspended sailings since the first suspensions were announced on March 12th, 2020. Just days ago, Disney officially revealed that they were temporarily suspending select cruises longer than seven nights in compliance with new guidance from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Affected travelers who have paid in full will receive either a cruise credit for a future sailing or a full refund. Disney operates four ships: Magic, Wonder, Dream, and Fantasy. Furthermore, the pandemic has also delayed the maiden voyage of the newest addition to the fleet, the Disney Wish, now scheduled to debut in summer 2022.
