Tokyo Disney Resort Shortens Restaurant & Ikspiari Operating Hours Amid Upcoming State of Emergency

Note: The Oriental Land Company once again adjusted operating hours for Tokyo Disneyland, Tokyo DisneySea, and Bon Voyage as of January 8th. Updated restaurant operating hours for January 12th onward will be released on January 9th.

Hot on the heels of Tokyo jumping from 1591 to a record 2447 new cases of COVID-19 in just one day, Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga has officially declared a State of Emergency from January 8th through at least February 7th in the four prefectures around Tokyo, including Chiba Prefecture, which is the home of Tokyo Disney Resort. In light of this decision, the Oriental Land Company is making some operating changes to both Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea, including closing two hours earlier starting January 12th.

Bon Voyage, the park merchandise store located between Maihama Station and Tokyo Disneyland, will also close at 8pm instead of at 10pm starting January 8th, and will move back to 7pm starting January 12th. Guests have been able to enter without a reservation since December 7th, and that system will continue for the time being.

Ikspiari, the shopping center adjacent to JR Maihama Station and Tokyo Disneyland, will close at 8pm instead of at 10pm as it does now. Operating hours may vary from store to store as well, so be sure to check on the Ikspiari website (in Japanese) before your visit, just in case.

As Japan struggles against its worst outbreak of COVID-19 yet, Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea have no imminent plans to close their gates as of right now. Amusement and theme parks are permitted to remain open under the current standards but that could change in the future.
