Disneyland Resort Qualifies for Raise in Capacity Tomorrow, May 19

Beginning tomorrow, May 19, Disneyland and other Orange County, California theme parks will be able to raise their capacity from 25% to 35%.

Orange County, California is eligible to advance into the least restrictive yellow reopening tier tomorrow. Overall theme park capacity can raise to 35%, while indoor capacity remains at 25%. Indoor dining, however, can go up from 25% to 50%.

Orange County’s case rate was 1.5 per 100,000 residents as of Sunday. The county has a .09% positivity rate overall and in lower socioeconomic communities. On Monday, only 39 new COVID-19 infections were diagnosed.

“Our numbers are looking really good,” Orange County Supervisor Lisa Bartlett said. “We seem to be improving day by day so it doesn’t appear the [COVID-19] variants are a concern right now. … But we still have not reached that 70% herd immunity in Orange County. We still have about 700,000 people to get up to that herd immunity.”

Whether or not Disneyland will raise its capacity is up to them.

Los Angeles County, home of Universal Studios Hollywood, is the only other Southern California county in the yellow tier.
