We’re just around the corner from the July 19 reopening of Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, which has been undergoing major refurbishments. While the monorail station won’t be ready Monday, crews are working hard to make the area around the new porte-cochére look less like an active construction site.
The large construction equipment has been moved from underneath the porte-cochére.
After we spotted the first one yesterday, a second possible lighting fixture has been added.
We can now see that the other side of the thatched roof has indeed reached completion.
Themed scrim has replaced the green net fencing that previously enclosed the site.
Over near the walkway to the Grand Ceremonial House, the themed scrim and lighting have also been added. A themed “Emergency exit only” sign featuring Maui (the Tiki statue, not the movie character) in a construction hat with a hammer has also appeared.
Over behind the Grand Ceremonial House, we saw some of the construction walls replaced with smaller crowd barriers yesterday.
Today, crews are literally rolling out new grass.

Nice! I’ll be there in Sept. when it’s all done. Can’t wait. Great shots BTW, thank you WDWNT for always keeping us up-to-date on this project. The Porte Cohere is now my favorite building at the PVR.
We were just there in December using our Vacation Club points. Parks were empty, kids had the greatest time, pool was all ours, We can’t wait to go back in a few months. Polynesian DVC points was the best purchase we ever made.
