It has been a few days since we checked in on the progress of the Monorail station refurbishment at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, so we dropped by to see how it was going today. Join us in this up-close look.
Along the back of the station, which faces toward the hotel, we see the panel that was installed last week.
Painting still has yet to be completed on the upper level supports and the exterior corner of the building.
Taking a closer look inside, we see workers on the stairs, which still have no handrails installed.
Construction activity is still buzzing as Monorails whoosh along the track overhead without stopping in the station during the refurbishment.
Moving to the other side of the tracks, new scaffolding has gone up around the corner edge of the building.
Workers can be seen on the level just below the top, continuing the process.
These decorative pillars are being resurfaced to match the other ones seen further along the building. They will eventually house more decorative panels, as seen in the concept drawing below.
On the other side of the porte-cochère, the decorative panel that we saw beginning installation during our last check-in has been nearly completed. Only one small piece in the center remains yet uninstalled.
On the far edge of the building, more work has been done resurfacing the decorative pillars. The handrails along the stairs, seemingly painted and complete, have been covered in plastic.
We got an even closer look at the construction from inside the Monorail as it makes its way around the Resort loop. The back of the decorative panels can be seen in more detail.
Many of the stone supports have been painted in primer and are covered in plastic to protect the outside faces from rain and other construction activity during the installation of the decorative panels.

the old wood platform had a certain charm about it. but from a maintanence standpoint i can understand why it is all being replaced with concrete and metals.
