Last week, Disney’s Port Orleans: Riverside resort reopened for the first time in 18 months. Now, we’re giving you a tour of the Disney princess themed Royal Guest Room at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside.
These rooms are very colorful and filled with ornate touches related to the princess theme.
The room has two double beds.
A decorative dome light is mounted on the ceiling above the beds.
Between the beds is a single nightstand.
The nightstand has a blue top. A phone is provided. There are two standard outlets. Next to the light switches are buttons for the headboards.
Behind each bed is a floor-to-ceiling headboard with a mural.
The mural is a night time swamp scene. There are three down facing lights in each headboard also.
The top of each headboard has a green and gold “T” for Tiana in the middle.
A gold painted magnolia sits below the swamp scene painting. The mural features a series of hidden lights that animate to make a fireworks display. The photos below show the progression of the show.
Again, there is a button on the side of each headboard to activate the fireworks display.
The room has carpet with shades of blue and a bit of green.
An image of the Magic Carpet from “Aladdin” is in front of the dresser.
The walls are filled with decor that fit the theme of the room.
Left of the TV is a portrait of Tiana. This portrait is in an ornate wooden frame that was “a gift from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs”.
This small red and gold bench is just below the Tiana portrait, representing the enchanted ottoman from Beauty and the Beast.
Tiana isn’t the only princess to adorn the walls. There are portraits of several other Disney princesses as well.
The dresser, and wall-mounted TV sit directly across from the beds. The TV is surrounded by a wooden frame.
There is a wallpaper border along the top edge of the wall. The border features several sidekick characters from the animated Princess films.
Below the TV are several A/V connections for guests to connect their own devices.
A small coffee maker and some coffee supplies sit on one side of the dresser.
Single cup packs of Joffrey’s 50th Anniversary Blend coffee are provided.
An ice bucket and cups are on the other side of the dresser.
A door in the dresser opens to reveal a refrigerator.
This room is Disney Princess themed, but the princes get a small nod also. There are two banners hanging to the right of the TV with silhouttes of Disney princes.
An oval mirror hangs between the prince banners.
This cylinder lamp hangs from the ceiling in front of the oval mirror. It lights up a small seating area.
Guests will find a special welcome note from Princess Tiana “on” the table.
The chairs are very regal.
The window is covered by gold curtains. Drawn-back blue curtains frame the entire window.
Below the window is the room’s air conditioner. It has a wood exterior cover with ornate gold trim.
To the right of the front door is a coat rack with three hangers.
An image of Cinderella’s pumpkin carriage is carved into the coat rack.
Across the room from the entry, a big gold curtain rod holds curtains that can block off the bathroom area.
The curtains appear similar to those on the front window.
Behind the curtains is the vanity and an open closet area.
There are dual sinks set in a wood frame. A marble shelf is mounted above the sinks.
Each sink has its own wall-mounted mirror.
A gold tissue box sits on the shelf above the sinks. Below that sits a small tray with the Disney Resorts soap and lotion.
The faucets are designed to resemble the Genie’s lamp from “Aladdin.”
A five-light fixture illuminates the sink and closet area.
The open closet area is to the right of the sinks.
Guests will find a shelf and hanging rod to store clothes. Several hangers are provided. There is an extra blanket and pillow, as well as an iron and ironing board.
The closet also has a safe to secure valuables. This safe uses a key to lock.
The shower and toilet area is behind a door on the left side. The door has a full-body length mirror on one side.
The shower curtain is a beige color with gold patterns. It also features blue and red oval shapes, as well as some of Ariel’s things.
There are two towel racks hanging above the toilet.
The shower fixtures are gold.
Bottles of Disney Resorts body wash, shampoo, and conditioner are provided. These bottles can’t be removed or opened. The body wash is Sea Salt scented. The shampoo and conditioner are Sea Marine.

Ok, this is actually really cute! After all of the modern makeovers of resort rooms, seeing a revamp that has a bunch of cute references (I love Carpet and the Lamp faucet!) is really heartwarming to me. I’m actually surprised they don’t just have an overall princess hotel that feels like the castle, with each room dedicated to different princesses. Like Art of Animation. This is still nice though! And Riverside is such a quaint, pretty resort already. ❤️
