A new emergency room medical facility by AdventHealth is set to open to the public this summer. The concept was first announced in 2021, and will soon be open to local residents as well as Central Florida visitors and Disney Cast Members.
New Emergency Room Facility for Central Florida
According to a recent Twitter post by digital journalist Ashley Carter, AdventHealth ER at Flamingo Crossings Town Center is planned for a summer 2023 opening. Concept renderings for the facility include decorative touches and references to Disney favorites.
The emergency room will be located near the western entrance gate of Walt Disney World Resort. It will function as a full-service emergency room to provide healthcare to Central Florida visitors and residents, including Disney Cast Members. The medical facility was first announced in 2021.
In the concept art above, Marlin and Nemo are positioned amongst a swirling school of seafoam-colored fish. The walls are also painted to look like ocean waves.
Characters from “Moana” are depicted in the mural here.
The facility will provide emergency care and an enhanced patient experience for resort guests, Cast Members, and the Central Florida community. It will be approximately 19,000 square feet and have 24 private patient rooms. The ER will also have respiratory therapy, diagnostic imaging, and a full-service laboratory.
AdventHealth and Walt Disney World Resort
AdventHealth and Walt Disney World Resort celebrated the groundbreaking of the new emergency room at Flamingo Crossings Town Center in early March.
Mickey Mouse arrived to commemorate the occasion. During the ceremony, AdventHealth and Disney sealed a time capsule containing items that told the history of their freshly renewed alliance, as well as mementos from “The World’s Most Magical Celebration,” commemorating the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World Resort. That celebration drew to a close at the end of March 2023.
AdventHealth and Walt Disney World Resort have a long history of collaboration. In 2021, they renewed their alliance, making AdventHealth the Official Healthcare Provider of Walt Disney World Resort. The partnership provides guests and Cast Members with access to a wide range of healthcare services, including emergency care, primary care, and specialty care.
Of the alliance, Doug Harcombe, CEO of AdventHealth Celebration and the Osceola market, stated:
We are pleased to break ground on this unique and innovative facility, which will provide convenient, whole-person care for Central Floridians and visitors alike. We’re combining what AdventHealth and Disney each do best: providing exceptional clinical care and designing an experience that delivers a calming environment with touches of Disney’s storytelling.
Located at the western gateway to Walt Disney World Resort, it will be staffed by a comprehensive clinical team, including board-certified emergency physicians and emergency nurses.
The facility will be influenced by architecture found in Key West and will feature Disney-inspired touches to enhance the patient experience. This includes a water feature and a children’s play area. The team members will be trained to provide compassionate, efficient, and high-quality care, and pediatric rooms will be included in the finished facility.
The new ER is a significant investment in the health and well-being of the Central Florida community. It will provide convenient, high-quality emergency care to those who need it most.
