Amidst construction on Disney’s BoardWalk, Trattoria al Forno has closed for a brief refurbishment and the BoardWalk Pizza Window has moved to a temporary location.
BoardWalk Inn Balcony Refurbishment
It looks like the balcony refurbishment in this area of Disney’s BoardWalk Inn is wrapping up as no more construction vehicles were around. Paint buckets and other materials are behind a temporary green fence.
Crews had been repainting the balconies.
Trattoria al Forno
Trattoria al Forno and the Pizza Window will be closed through June 17. Limited breakfast offerings are available at Flying Fish during this time.
A cherry-picker is parked behind green fencing outside Trattoria al Forno, but no active construction was happening during our visit. Crews have also been working on the balconies above the BoardWalk.
BoardWalk Pizza
Crew members were working inside BoardWalk Pizza.
A sign at the normal window pointed to the temporary location outside AbracadaBar.
Another A-frame sign also points to the temporary location.
A Cast Member is stationed at a white podium to take your pizza order from noon to midnight.
More BoardWalk Balcony Construction
Another cherry-picker construction vehicle is parked outside BoardWalk Deli, which remains open.
Green scrim is on rolling scaffolding around the entrance to BoardWalk Deli, to protect guests and Cast Members from any construction that may be ongoing.
And a third cherry-picker is parked near the ice cream shop.
These vehicles are being used for repainting the above balconies.
The Cake Bake Shop
At the end of Disney’s BoardWalk, work continues on The Cake Bake Shop by Gwendolyn Rogers, which replaces ESPN Club.
The walls and tower of ESPN Club were demolished, but a new tower is being constructed.
The ESPN Club sign and wall paneling was also torn from the building façade.
Since our last construction update, metal sheets have been installed on the Cake Bake Shop’s tower.
The sheets cover part of the tower’s roof.
The walls and a smaller tower on top have yet to be covered in paneling or sheathing.
A crane at the construction site is being used to lift elements up to the tower.
The rest of the building’s roofing may also be replaced when work on the tower is closer to completion.
The Cake Bake Shop will include a table-service restaurant and a quick-service bakery.
Concept art (below) indicates The Cake Bake Shop will have dark roofing and white walls with plenty of windows.
The Cake Bake Shop is set to open at Disney’s BoardWalk later this year, but two locations already exist at Broad Ripple Village in Indianapolis, Indiana, and Carmel City Center in Carmel, Indiana. The combination restaurants and bakeries are known for their lavish decor, artfully composed dishes, and afternoon tea experiences. Online ordering is also available.
BoardWalk Funnel Cake Kiosk
Finally, we spotted crew members repainting the funnel cake kiosk across from Surrey bike rentals.
The funnel cake kiosk is closed with no announced reopening date.
