The Jessie’s Critter Carousel fountain has been drained and blocked off with temporary barriers at Disney California Adventure, most likely for refurbishment.
Jessie’s Critter Carousel Fountain
The fountain is located just to the right of the sign for Jessie’s Critter Carousel in Pixar Pier. It can also be seen while on the ride and in a portion of the queue.
We first noticed that the Jessie’s Critter Carousel fountain was drained, and these barriers were put up while on a recent visit to Disney California Adventure.
The fountain extends to the length of the carousel and is completely unreachable by guests at this point. The empty fountain can still be seen from the ride itself, and the ride is currently operating as normal.
The basin portion of the fountain has been completely emptied, with only hard water stains visible. While we have not confirmed the reason for the drainage, it is likely due to maintenance and to remove coins that could have been thrown into the fountain.
Coins that are thrown into fountains at Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resorts are collected periodically and donated to charities like Make-A-Wish. Disney and Make-A-Wish have been working together since 1980 to grant wishes for more than 150,000 children with critical illnesses. Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products Chairman Josh D’Amaro was also appointed to the national board of directors for Make-A-Wish America earlier this year.
The photo above shows the fountains when they are in operation.
