More decorations have been added to Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel as it slowly becomes the Pixar Place Hotel. The reimagining was announced in April 2022 and is set to be completed this winter, celebrating the various films and characters of Pixar Animation Studios. The hotel remains open and operating during the update.

New lights have been installed on the sidewalk outside the hotel. The lights resemble the iconic Pixar ball, with a stripe around the middle and a star on the side.

The ball lights are atop black posts of varying heights next to a sidewalk that is currently closed for construction.

While the Pixar reimagining is underway, a new non-Pixar-related restaurant is also under construction at the hotel: Great Maple.

White beams have been installed for a kind of porte-cochère entrance to Great Maple. An A-frame roof is atop the center beams.

Great Maple is set to open this fall. This Southern California-based modern American eatery specializes in playful takes on upscale comfort food. Serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner all day, the ground-floor restaurant will be open to the public.

Dishes will include Buttermilk Fried Chicken & Maple Bacon Doughnuts, the Cajun Shrimp & Cheddar Biscuit Benedict, and the Soda Pop-Braised Baby Back Ribs. Great Maple will also have a full bar, including beer, wine, and cocktails.

Great Maple will also provide food and beverage service at the pool, as well as a new grab ‘n’ go coffee shop and café near the lobby, and, eventually, at the hotel’s new concierge lounge.

Pixar Place Hotel Details

The latest area of Pixar Place to be completed is the “Finding Nemo” slide, splash pad, and pool area, a.k.a. Nemo’s Cove. Crush now adorns the top of the waterslide, which leads down to a splash pad decorated with “Finding Nemo” characters. Pixel Pool is surrounded by more of Pixar’s primary color scheme and fire pits inspired by fiery Pixar characters like Anger from “Inside Out” and Ember from “Elemental.”

Inside, the lobby reopened in May with artistic touches inspired by Pixar films. A “Luca” mural adorns the wall by the elevator bank, while Pixar concept art on colorful panels also decorates a seating area.

Pixar Place Hotel concept art also shows Luxo Jr. (the Pixar lamp) and a character mobile in the entryway and a family play court with “Bao” inspiration.

Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel originally opened in 1984 as the Emerald of Anaheim. Disney purchased the hotel in 1995 and renamed it the Disneyland Pacific Hotel. With the opening of Disney California Adventure and its Paradise Pier land in 2001, the hotel received its current Paradise Pier Hotel name. The actual Paradise Pier land has since become Pixar Pier.
