Blueberry-filled Pastry Tart with Purple Icing – $4.75
This isn’t very pretty looking, and the icing is messy. It looks just like a Pop Tart and tastes like one too, or at least, a generic brand version that doesn’t taste as good. It’s very doughy and quite dry. The blueberry flavor isn’t too strong, and the dough takes over the moisture from the blueberry filling. We don’t recommend this. We rate this a 1 out of 7.
Rainbow Cake with Freeze-Dried SKITTLES® Bite-Sized Candies – $5.50
Don’t eat this before going to the dentist, as this is topped with freeze-dried Skittles. Visually, it’s very cute, like it was made for Instagram. The freeze-dried Skittles pair well with the cake, which is very moist but not heavily flavored. The icing is where the real flavor comes in, as well as the crunchy Skittles. The top half has more flavor, thanks to the icing. The freeze-dried Skittles make it really special. It’s pretty, and pretty good at that. We’d get it again! We rate this a 6 out of 7.
Figment Premium Popcorn Bucket with Rainbow Popcorn – $30.00
The Figment popcorn bucket has become a festival favorite, and with a new design this year incorporating the whole Imagination! Pavilion, we expect he will continue to be a must-have item this year as well. The popcorn itself is the standard colored caramel corn; it’s an overly sweet and photogenic version of the classic. We rate the popcorn a 2 out of 7.
Grape Smoothie with Freeze-Dried SKITTLES Bite-Sized Candies (Non-Alcoholic) – $5.75
Much like the cake, this also has freeze-dried Skittles on it. The cup is adorable! Appropriately for Figment, the flavor profile took us back to the 1980s. It tastes like a grape candy from the ’80s, not unlike Purplesaurus Rex Kool-Aid. We love the nostalgia factor on this one; it felt like a throwback to childhood. Luckily, it isn’t too sweet. Thanks to the freeze-drying, the Skittles are crunchy and not chewy at all. It’s almost like a Skittle had the texture of a Cheeto. Between the culinary time travel and the super-awesome Figment cup, this is a winner. We rate this a 7 out of 7.
3 Daughters Brewing Black Cherry Hard Cider, St. Petersburg, FL (5.5% ABV) – $5.75 for 6 oz., $9.75 for 12 oz.
From correspondence with 3 Daughters Brewing: “Crisp apples blended with wild black cherries create a slightly tart, barely sweet cider perfectly refreshing for a sunny Florida day.”
3 Daughters Brewing Blood Orange Hard Cider, St. Petersburg, FL (5.5% ABV) $5.75 for 6 oz., $9.75 for 12 oz.
From correspondence with 3 Daughters Brewing: “The perfect amount of zesty blood orange flavor brings the aroma of an endless summer with this medium-bodied, semi-sweet cider.”
3 Daughters Brewing Passion Fruit Hard Cider, St. Petersburg, FL (5.5% ABV) – $5.75 for 6 oz., $9.75 for 12 oz.
From correspondence with 3 Daughters Brewing: “Tangy tropical passion fruit flavor swirled with crisp, bright apples make this juicy, light-bodied cider the ideal treat for the Florida heat.”
81Bay Brewing Co. Green with Envy Blonde Ale, Tampa, FL (5.4% ABV) – $5.75 for 6 oz., $9.75 for 12 oz.
From correspondence with 81Bay Brewing Co., this is “a gold medal winning blonde ale with a light body and crisp finish, colored/flavored with organic pandan leaf, which adds notes of earthy vanilla and coconut.”
81Bay Brewing Co. Blue Butterfly Lager, Tampa, FL (4.2% ABV) – $5.75 for 6 oz. $9.75 for 12 oz.
From correspondence with 81Bay Brewing Co., this is “a light-bodied and slightly sweet rice lager flavored with all natural butterfly pea for light herbal tea accents.”
Urban Artifact The Gadget Raspberry & Blackberry Midwest Fruit Tart, Cincinnati, OH (7.9% ABV) – $5.75 for 6 oz., $9.75 for 12 oz.
According to Urban Artifact, this is “a Midwest Fruit Tart brewed with 1,200 lbs of blackberries, 1,200 lbs of raspberries, and 30g of vanilla beans per 30 bbl batch.”
