For this first time since 2018, the Turkey Poutine returns to using sweet potato fries instead of standard French fries. Meanwhile, the non-alcoholic beverages and their alcoholic counterparts are holdovers from Holiday Kitchens that didn’t return this year. The Gingerbread Milk Shake comes from The Donut Box, while the Eggnog and Firenog found last year at Chestnuts & Good Cheer Holiday Kitchen.

While we prefer the regular poutine, we enjoyed the sweet potato fries. It’s basically a Thanksgiving dinner in a dish. The description didn’t mention cheese curds, so we were excited to find them hiding at the bottom! This is definitely not the worst poutine we’ve had from Refreshment Port and we would even recommend this.

Gingerbread Milk Shake (Non-Alcoholic) – $4.75

This has a potent flavor of gingerbread throughout. It’s very creamy and also nutmeg heavy. That said, we’re not sure we would recommend it.

Eggnog (Non-Alcoholic) – $4.25

This is just basic eggnog you could get in your average grocery store this time of year. It’s nothing terribly special.

*NEW* Keel Farms Hard Pumpkin Cider, Plant City, FL (5.3% ABV) – $12.00

From Keel Farms: “Happy fall! Delicious pumpkin cider from Keel Farms is sure to get your mouth watering and in the mood for autumn. Combined with the natural acidity of the apple, this beverage is perfectly sweet and crisp.”

Pasek Cellars Cranberry Wine, Mount Vernon, WA ($13/bottle) – $7.50

Pasek Cellars describes this wine: “A touch of sweetness on the front moves to a delicious tart cranberry finish. This wine is produced with Northwest grown cranberries from the bogs in Grayland Washington. We ferment the whole fruit after running it through the crusher to break down the tough skins of the cranberries. Because there is not enough sugar in the fruit, we boost fermentation with pure cane sugar and wait patiently for fermentation. Cranberry wine is a bit stubborn in moving through fermentation that creates the alcohol, but it is worth the wait.”

Gingerbread Milk Shake with Whipped Cream Vodka – $12.00

We liked the gingerbread milkshake as-is, but the vodka adds an extra kick.

Drinking this, the alcohol hits you almost immediately. The eggnog is smooth and creamy, but it warms up fast with the Florida weather. The Fireball pairs well with the spice of the eggnog, but on a warm day, this can be a little heavy. Overall, this is a good beverage, especially if you like Fireball. Just maybe save it for the cooler evenings to come.
