With Toy Story Midway Mania moving to Toy Story Land in Summer 2018 via a newly rerouted queue and exit, the attraction will need to experience some downtime ahead of the opening of the new land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Starting today, the third track of Toy Story Midway Mania (which was added in the Summer of 2016) will be closed for a period to accommodate the needed construction. The original two tracks of the ride will undergo a closure as well in a few weeks time, which will be followed by a full closure of the attraction to accommodate the final changes that need to be made before Toy Story Land opens. Dates for these closures have yet to be announced at this time.
When Potato Head animatronic was removed from the queue maybe he was moved to the new queue.
Hwe will welcome guests at the new Toy Story Land entrance to the ride.
I wish these stories were less headlines and more context. Why are the moving this or closing this? Where is this in relation to toy story land etc. These stories on WDW News Today are seriously terrible. Please try to provide some insight or context.
We’ve written dozens of stories on the project, not every story requires a full schematic of the plans. As stated in the past, PIXAR Place will close and the entrance and exit are moving to Toy Story Land. This story is meant to help guests visiting between now and the Summer who will be affected by the closure. If you want to see more about Toy Story Land, you may want to check these out:

Tom, thank you for all you do for this site, and thank you for providing a professional and courteous reply to someone less than courteous ;-)
How does Chapek power down at night knowing “guests” are being charged full price for a two ride theme park?
I was always a supporter of HS when others called it a “half day park”, and proclaimed “there’s nothing to do there” — now they’re closing yet another attraction? I’m going with my younger cousins for their first visit from the UK (5 and 12) in mid April – and I guess this will well and truly be closed. Not a happy camper.
He fills his waterbed with your tears.
We are going first week in March and have a fast pass booked for the ride. Is it very likely that the whole thing will be closed by then? When do you think the dates will be released? Thanks!
I don’t think they know yet, but it sounds like April as March is Spring Break season.
Do you think it will be open by the middle of May?
I’m surprised that they’re not waiting until Toy Story Land is up and running to shut down one of only four rides left in the park. Especially since this is the only really little kid friendly one left… and the only one left with organic Disney/Pixar characters. I’m sure they want it running to open Toy Story Land, but taking -yet another ride- out of a park everyone is already snooting about being a half day is really, really gutsy. I hope it’s worth it =/
I remember when Animal Kingdom was a half day park, before you spent the other half day waiting for FoP. Get over it.
Thanks for the heads up. We’ll be there in a few weeks so it’s nice to know a portion of the ride might be closed. I like being prepared as opposed to surprised about ride closures when it’s possible. Appreciate you sharing this with us.
