Sonny Eclipse’s October 1 performances at Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe in the Tomorrowland section of Magic Kingdom will be of a celebratory nature, if celebrating the return of condiment dispensers is your thing. Pump dispensers containing ketchup, ranch, barbecue sauce, and mayonnaise have returned to the Topping Bar at the counter-service restaurant, the first time that condiment pumps have appeared at the location since 2020.

Condiment Pumps Return to Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe

Condiment pumps were long available for customer use at Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe before its COVID-19 prompted closure in March 2020. The Topping Bar pumps were removed when the restaurant reopened in July of that year and replaced by prepackaged condiment packets to assure guest safety amidst the ongoing pandemic.

This is the first time we’ve seen condiment pumps at Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe since its reopening over three years ago. Though potentially just a coincidence, their return coincides with the 52nd birthday of Magic Kingdom and Walt Disney World Resort.

Large stacks of disposable paper portion cups flank the pumps. A wide array of condiments and sauces were previously offered in the pumps, but as of October 1, only ketchup, ranch, barbecue sauce, and mayonnaise are available through the dispensers. There is a large opening next to the ketchup pump that seems like a natural fit for a mustard dispenser, but such a pump is not present at this time. Mustard is still only available in prepackaged packets.

The Topping Bar also contains salt and pepper packets and coffee/tea sweeteners.

The Topping Bar is currently the only location at Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe where condiment pumps appear. Prepackaged ketchup, mustard, barbecue sauce, and mayonnaise are still available at the condiment table alongside napkins, plastic cutlery, salt and pepper packets, and hot beverage sweeteners.

Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe

Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe opened at Magic Kingdom in 1994 as part of a larger Tomorrowland overhaul. The popular dining location offers a wide range of items, with its menu including the Triple-B Burger, Grilled Chicken Sandwich, and the Chopped Vegetable and Crispy Noodle Salad, among several other offerings.

The restaurant also has an extensive allergy-friendly item, offering individual wheat, egg, fish/shellfish, milk, peanut/tree nut, sesame, and soy allergy-friendly versions of nearly all of their dishes. The restaurant also has one plant-based item — the Patty Melt, which contains an Impossible™ Burger patty.

Sonny Eclipse has a residency gig at Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe. The audio-animatronic Zorkie debuted in 1995 and soothes guests with jazz music played on his astro-organ. His approximately 26-minute set plays throughout the day and consists of eight songs written by George Wilkins and Kevin Rafferty, including “My Name is Sonny Eclipse,” “Hello Space Angels,” and “Yew Nork, Yew Nork.”
