S'mores snacks at Disney's Animal Kingdom

REVIEW: New S’mores Churro, Dessert Pizza, Shake, and Hot Cocoa at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Disney’s Animal Kingdom has a new series of s’mores snacks available throughout the park.

These are the new treats and where they’re located:

S’mores Churro – $7.29

S'mores churro from Tamu Tamu Refreshments

The S’mores Churro is rolled in chocolate dust, sugar, and salt. It’s topped with dollops of whipped cream covered in graham cracker dust and semisweet chocolate chips. There is also an extra dollop of whipped cream on the side as well as marshmallow dipping sauce in a container.

S'mores churro and marshmallow dip

As per usual, the Walt Disney World churro is disappointingly tough and not the soft churro we hope for. The chocolate dusting is a little out of control and overpowers any s’mores flavor. There are nods to the classic campfire treat in the graham cracker dust and the marshmallow dip.

S'mores churro

This treat is a must-do for any Disney Churro aficionado but probably not for anyone else. Steer clear if you don’t like sweet and salty combinations.

Prepare for a mess if you must eat this. But it is skippable. We rate it a 2/7.

S’mores Dessert Pizza – $6.79

S'mores dessert pizza

The S’mores Dessert Pizza is a delicious alternative to some of the more typical Disney desserts. The pizza is made on normal pizza dough with browned butter and brown sugar. On top is chocolate, graham cracker, and toasted marshmallow.

We liked the dough and graham crackers the most. It honestly tasted like an elevated French toast, likely because of the pizza dough, butter, and brown sugar. Because of that, it’s a good treat for anyone who likes French toast or s’mores.

The pizza dough offers a subtle base that makes this treat friendly for most. But like the churro, don’t bother if you dislike sweet and salty combinations.

We do prefer this over the churro. We rate it 4/7.

S’moresosaurus Shake – $8.49

Vanilla Shake with Chocolate and Caramel Drizzle topped with a Chocolate-dipped S’more, Toasted Marshmallows, and Graham Cracker Crumbs and rimmed with Chocolate Fudge Sauce and Graham Cracker Crumbs

S'moresosaurus Shake

The S’moresosaurus Shake is a vanilla milkshake with chocolate and caramel drizzle, topped with a chocolate-dipped s’more (decorated with a dinosaur), toasted marshmallows, and graham cracker crumbs. The rim has chocolate sauce and graham cracker dust.

Side of s'mores milkshake

This is a wild shake! At first, we tasted only the vanilla shake but as it had more time to melt together, the caramel and chocolate were more prominent. If you are trying to get that s’mores taste, you will want to put a marshmallow in your mouth before sipping.

S'more on top of s'mores milkshake

The chocolate-covered s’more on top is dark chocolate around two graham crackers with marshmallow in the center. The green dinosaur on the s’mores (ours was upside down) is white chocolate. This was our favorite part of the dessert.

S'mores milkshake

It tastes like a typical milkshake with extra flavoring that makes it an interesting alternative. It is very sugary and not for the lactose-intolerant. We rate it a 4/7.

S’mores Hot Cocoa – $3.99

S'mores hot cocoa

The S’mores Hot Cocoa is Joffrey’s hot chocolate with whipped cream and graham cracker dusting on top — so it’s basically a normal hot chocolate from Joffrey’s. The only thing that gives it anything near a s’mores taste is the graham cracker dust, but you only taste that if you scrape it off the top. When you take a regular sip, it doesn’t come through.

This is just an extra sugary hot chocolate. It’s edible but unnecessary and doesn’t even make for a good picture. Order a regular hot chocolate for $3.79 and save 20 cents. We give it a 1/7.
